ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project stems from the necessity to create collaboration to achieve a common purpose: finding solutions to counteract social exclusion. In the light of the social crisis which has impacted greatly on Europe, this project also aims at educating young people and give them a deeper understanding of the need to face current social problems and to get involved, propose and carry out initiatives that will have an impact on their social environment. Bearing this in mind, main objectives of this project are the following:

  1. To educate the school community and help them to understand the need to face current    problems related to refugees, migration and other social situations, as well as the urgent need to be engaged and look for initiatives which help to lighten the negative impact of this social situation.
  2. To encourage young people to become responsible EU citizens, aware of and respecting the different cultures.
  3. To raise public awareness of the need to work together to ensure the future of our communities and the entire world.
  4. To motivate young people: they will feel relevant and satisfied of helping and trying to create a better and safer world as well as experience first hand important aspects of cooperation in the EU.
  5. To motivate students and teachers in language education and its importance to communicate with European partners.
  6. To design and implement motivational and meaningful activities which help to achieve all other objectives, develop competences and act from an entrepreneurial perspective.
  7. To obtain relevant ouputs and outcomes and diffuse them through various ways in order to cause a significant impact on participants and communities.

Moreover, carrying out this project transnationally is also important due to several reasons, such as sharing knowledge and experiences, encouraging participants to enhance their social responsibility and enriching their knowledge about other countries, thus increasing respect for each other and our differences. Participants´ language skills will be also promoted and the experiences linked to this project will possibly enhance further European cooperation.
The activities which will be implemented during the project will be varied and will guide participants towards active engagement in social inclusion (development of an inclusion plan to integrate students with social difficulties and their families, including immigrants; creation of an international network with students and teachers; organization of a letter-writing campaign to offer proposals to local authorities...).
Finally, it is expected that this project will have a considerable impact and long-term benefits for participants, as they will increase their knowledge about refugees and immigrants through direct contact, will learn to look immigration from different perspectives and will have a better understanding of refugees’ situation. Besides, they will enhance their language, digital, social, professional and cooperative skills, will get the feeling to contribute by helping in inclusive education and will strengthen their empathy and engagement.
